But this triggers a series of events that lead Mari, Sheldon's girlfriend, to write one of the best horror novels of all time; Lara, her stepsister, to compose an album, and which ends with the brutal murder of Pierce. As Emily digs into the village's complicated history, she begins to suspect that there is something more behind the story of that fateful summer of 1974. That, perhaps, Pierce's murder wasn't just a story of sex, drugs and rock. and roll that got out of hand, but something much more sinister could have happened. And that, perhaps, the answer is found in the iconic works of Mari and Lara, which were born that summer. When secrets begin to come to light, Emily realizes that history has a curious way of repeating itself and, perhaps, that summer, Villa Rosato will claim a new victim.
