Description
Stonewall uprising: Featuring archival footage and interviews with those who took part, from drag queens and street hustlers to police detectives, journalists, and a former mayor of New York City, this program revisits a time when homosexual acts were illegal throughout the United States, and homosexuality itself was considered a mental illness. On June 28, 1969, when police raided the Stonewall Inn, a Mafia-run gay bar in Greenwich Village, gay men and women did something they had not done before: they fought back. As the streets of New York erupted into violent protests and street demonstrations, the collective anger announced that the gay rights movement had arrived.
Description
The state of marriage: The story of how legal legend Mary Bonauto partnered with Vermont lawyers Beth Robinson and Susan Murray in a twp-decade struggle that pioneered the entire marriage equality movement and, as Marty Rouse said, 'changed the course of American history'.
Description
Between the shades: Fifty individuals belonging to the LGBTQI community discuss gender identity, labels, and how they perceive and define themselves.
Description
Lady valor: Former U.S. Navy SEAL Christopher Beck embarks on a new mission as Kristin Beck. Kristin's journey in search of the American ideals that she protected has a whole new meaning as she lives her life truthfully as a transgender woman. After a lifetime of service, Kristin has learned that her fight for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness did not end on the battlefield.
